I’m not perfect, but I’m damn close – and thank goodness for that!

Sometimes, the biggest life lessons come from the most unexpected places.
Recently, I got inspired by… a t-shirt.
Specifically, a quote on my colleague Michelle’s shirt.
It was in Swedish: “Jag är inte perfekt men jävligt nära”, which translates to:
“I’m not perfect, but I’m damn close.”
And BAM – something clicked inside me.

Sure, it’s just a funny slogan – but also a perfect (pun intended) summary of how we might want to approach weight loss, healthy living, and… ourselves.

Perfection is a myth – health is a process

In a world full of filters (Photoshop), “perfect” bodies on Instagram, and lists like “5 things you must never eat after 6 PM” – it’s easy to lose your mind.
But weight loss, just like life, isn’t a sprint.
It’s more like a long walk… with pizza breaks along the way.

Chasing perfection often leads to frustration, burnout, and (ironically) stress-eating.
But you don’t need to be perfect to feel good in your own body.
You just need to be damn close – whatever that means to you.

Why it pays to chill a little

There’s no single definition of success
For one person, success is losing 5 kg. For someone else – it’s just getting out for regular walks.
Don’t compare yourself to others – play by your own rules.
But do let others inspire you – that matters too.

Laughter burns calories
Okay, maybe not as much as a HIIT session, but seriously – humor helps us survive the tough days.
And we all have those. Even the “perfect” ones on Instagram.

Self-acceptance is not giving up
It’s a choice: to treat yourself kindly here and now, not only “once I lose 10 kilos.”
That mindset brings way more motivation than constant self-criticism.

Progress over perfection

Daily choices: a bit more water, a little less scrolling before bed, a short walk instead of another TV episode, or reading a few pages of a book.
Each of those steps proves that you’re “damn close.”
And that’s exactly the point!

It’s not about being flawless – it’s about becoming a better version of yourself, step by step.

Summary: Be your own fan

Don’t wait for the day when you “finally look right.”
You already look great – because you’re doing something for yourself.
And if you can smile, laugh at yourself, and wear a quote like “I’m not perfect, but I’m damn close” – you’re already winning.
